Artists will soon be able to share NFTs on their Spotify page. The music streaming service confirms that they will be testing out their latest feature for artists to promote and sell NFTs via the app.
The feature has been rolled out to be made accessible to a selected group of users throughout the United States. Here, users can scroll past the song section and tap on an NFT where it will be visually maximised. A "See More" icon will navigate the user to the NFT marketplace OpenSea where users can purchase it. With the introduction of this feature, Spotify will not be taking a cut off artist NFT sales. Those currently displaying NFTs on their artist page include Steve Aoki and The Wombats, the publication reported.
"Spotify is running a test to help a small group of artists promote their existing third-party NFT offerings via their artist profiles,"
a Spotify spokesperson told Music Ally.
"We routinely conduct tests as an effort to improve artist and fan experiences. Some of those tests end up paving the way for a broader experience and others serve only as an important learning."
With the new feature, Spotify follows suit to the footsteps of apps such as Instagram and Twitter to explore new ways engaging with their user base through NFTs.
