Swarovski Optik and Marc Newson Unveil World's First AI Binoculars: AX VISIO

Unveiled amidst the glitz and glamour of CES 2024, Swarovski Optik has joined forces with renowned designer Marc Newson to introduce the brilliantly crafted AX VISIO - hailed as the world’s premier AI-assisted binoculars. Leveraging a fusion of cutting-edge combined high-performance analog long-range lenses with advanced digital intelligence, revolutionizing wildlife observation by effortlessly detecting and identifying over 9,000 species of birds and other creatures with a mere touch of a button.

At the core of this pioneering creation lies Swarovski's esteemed Swarovision analog optics, seamlessly integrated with a state-of-the-art real-time identification system. This intelligent integration enables autonomous species identification, empowering users to effortlessly name and catalog the wildlife they encounter. Moreover, the binoculars are equipped with the capability to capture stunning photos and videos, allowing enthusiasts to preserve and share their nature sightings instantaneously via the dedicated SWAROVSKI OPTIK Outdoor App, accessible on connected smartphones.

A standout feature of the app is its Shared Discoveries function, facilitating collaborative exploration by enabling users to guide others to observed subjects through intuitive arrow markers on the display. The result of a collaborative effort spanning five years between Swarovski Optik and Marc Newson, the AX VISIO epitomizes a harmonious blend of modern aesthetics and user-friendly design, reminiscent of their prior collaboration on the CL Curio.

Newson, likening the AX VISIO to a contemporary camera due to its optical, electronic, and digital attributes, underscores the device's sophisticated construction. Crafted with precision at Swarovski Optik's main site in Absam, Austria, the binoculars feature an integrated operating system enhanced with object recognition capabilities, facilitated by a Neural Processing Unit for swift data processing.

Andreas Gerk, Chief Technology and Operations Officer at SWAROVSKI OPTIK emphasizes the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation, noting that the analog components adhere to their rigorous quality standards, while the digital features receive regular updates to enhance performance. An open programming interface further fosters versatility, enabling third-party developers to introduce new functionalities, and ensuring the AX VISIO remains at the forefront of technological advancement.
