Nike is rewarding creators for virtual sneaker designs
Their Web3 platform .SWOOSH is offering a $5,000 cash prize and a chance to collaborate with Nike designers on a one-of-one virtual sneaker.
.SWOOSH is extending an invite to fans from its community to create their own digital wearables via a contest called #YourForce1. This contest challenges users to build their own visual storyboard from Instagram to showcase their footwear designs. In return, the global fashion/sportswear brand will give away $5,000 to each winner and get an opportunity to work directly with Nike designers to create their own one-of-one digital sneakers.
Nike added that the four designs could potentially be a part of its first signature collection to be launched in the near future.
"At .SWOOSH, we'd like to expand the definition of what a creator could be. That's why this .SWOOSH Studio contest prioritises creative storytelling over creative skills," said Nike in a press release.
Nike has spent several years tapping into its Web3 strategy. Before it released .SWOOSH in November, the company acquired digital fashion house RTFKT to welcome its first steps into the metaverse. In 2020, Nike announced the beginning of its brand testing RFID-linked blockchain technology to track its supply chain processes.
